BIG STAGE S2 ENG
‘I Give Points For Standard And Effort’ – Siti Nurhaliza
The country’s number one singer, Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza, explained that the points she’s given Big Stage 2019 contestants is based on a set standard.
She was forced to clarify after netizens pointed out that the points given by her to Indonesian contestant Dinda Permata differs from the points given by local jury Ajai after the third concert.
According to Siti, she did not give a low mark because she wants the contestants to feel sad or stressed out.
“I give the marks based on a ‘standard’ and according to the contestants’ efforts.
“Before this, local judges such as Datuk Syaafinaz or Ajai, they judge the contestants differently, and that’s up to them.
“It’s just that there’s a certain standard about giving points so that it doesn’t ‘downgrade’ the contestant, because those points give them the confidence to perform.
“Last week, the fans questioned the points I gave Dinda because she forgot her lyrics. Actually, she did not forget her lyrics; she was actually too emotional until the point that she could not sing.
“But in terms of emotions, she performed it really well,” she tells Gempak after the end of the fourth ‘Big Stage 2019’ concert held at the Auditorium Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam, Selangor on Sunday.
The “Anta Permana” singer hopes that the contestants would give their all considering that it’s now week five of the competition.
“There are a few weeks left. I hope that the contestants do not waste the opportunity, especially Chaleeda Gilbert, who needs to work hard to stay in the competition.”
“I hope that they go all out. At the moment, there are less than five contestants who could qualify for the final stage,” she added.
More than 10 contestants from Malaysia, Indonesia, South Korea and Thailand are taking part in ‘Big Stage 2019’.
Fieya Julia was eliminated after week four, but Siti has decided to use her immunity to save her from elimination.
A total of ten contestants move on to week five, where they are task to perform songs with the theme ‘Cannot Brain’.
In week four, Jaclyn Victor was guest judge, joining Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza and Judika.
