Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif Kumpulan AirAsia, Tan Sri Tony Fernandes dilaporkan akan melepaskan semya jawatan yang dipegangnya kecuali di dalam AirAsia Group dan AirAsia X.
Menerusi laman sosial Twitter, Tony membuat pengumuman itu untuk tatapan umum.
“As the first step of stepping back and moving the next generation of @airasia leaders into the forefront I will be stepping down of all boards except @airasia group and airasia X,” tulisnya menerusi satu kicauan.

Pengumuman yang dibuat itu ternyata mengundang pelbagai reaksi wargamaya berikutan beliau tidak menyatakan alasan yang kukuh tentang pelepasan jawatan tersebut.
Malah, Tony turut mengenang kembali momennya menaikkan jenama syarikat tambang murah terkemuka dunia itu sehingga kini menjadi syarikat penerbangan tambang murah terbaik selama 11 tahun berturut-turut anjuran Skytrax.

Ada yang berterima kasih kepada Tony kerana dengan harga tiket yang murah dan promosi berpanjangan itulah membuatkan mereka mampu untuk mengembara.
