Everyone loves a good heist movie.
The planning montage, the scene where the robbers realise a kink in their plans, the need to change plans on the fly and of course, the heart-thumping getaway scene; all these factors add up to make heist movies a sure blockbuster hit.Over the years, we've seen some pretty good, very memorable heist movies. If you're looking for one to watch with your guy friends during movie night, here's what we recommend:
The Italian Job (2003)

Reservoir Dogs (1992)

Point Break (1991)

Before Keanu Reeves was John Wick, he was Johnny Utah, a federal agent who's working hard to track down a gang of bank robbers. He soon realises that the group is not your usual gang of bank robbers; they are surfers -- led by the charismatic Bodhi (Patrick Swayze) -- who are addicted to the rush of thievery. Of course, things get complicated when Johnny falls in love with pretty female surfer Tyler (Lori Petty), who has close ties to the gang.
Inside Man (2006)

One of our personal favourites, Denzel Washington and Clive Owen go head-to-head in this brilliant movie about Dalton Russell (played by Owen), who masterminded a very well-planned and suspenseful heist inside a bank. Detective Keith Frazier (played by Washington) soon arrives at the scene thinking he could outsmart Dalton and his group of robbers, only to realise later that they are three steps ahead.
Ocean's Eleven (2001)

If you want something more recent and starring an ensemble cast, we have the perfect movie for you: Logan Lucky.
The movie tells the story of a West Virginia family man named Jimmy Logan, who teams up with his one-armed brother Clyde and sister Mellie to steal money from the Charlotte Motor Speedway in North Carolina during the Coca Cola 600.

Logan Lucky stars Channing Tatum, Daniel Craig, Katie Holmes, Hilary Swank and Adam Driver. It is directed by Steven Soderbergh - the same guy who directed Ocean's Eleven!

Logan Lucky is set to open in Malaysian cinemas on 7 September (Thursday).
But thanks to our friends at TGV Cinemas, you get to watch the movie a day earlier - before anyone else in Malaysia! Pretty awesome, right?
