Meet the App That Makes Recreating Your Favourite M’sian Influencer Recipes Easier Than Ever

After a long day of fasting, deciding what to cook for iftar can be surprisingly stressful—especially if you’re trying not to repeat yesterday’s menu. Scrolling through social media for ideas often leads to saved posts you can’t find later, or recipes scattered across multiple platforms. 

That’s where a new app steps in, compiling recipes from local influencers into one convenient space to make iftar meal planning a whole lot easier.

Developed by a Computer Science graduate, Hafizzudin Sharif, the app, called Kerisik, compiles recipes from local figures like Khairulaming, Che Sayang Kitchen, and Hazwan Ramli. Users can search for their preferred influencers using the app’s search function.

You can also search for recipes by keyword. For example, if you only have chicken at home, simply type chicken in the search bar and all recipes using that ingredient will appear.

Kerisik also has a grocery list feature that automatically generates a shopping list based on the recipe you plan to cook. Each recipe includes original links to the influencers’ videos for users to watch.

The app is currently free and available for download on both iOS and Android.

Malaysians are loving it

The app has quickly gained attention from Malaysians, many of whom call it a lifesaver.

However, some social media users have raised copyright concerns over the recipes shared on the app. A few wondered whether the app could affect engagement on the influencers’ original videos.

Hafizzudin has since addressed the issue, explaining that his intention was simply to make it easier for his wife to browse recipes shared online. He also stated that he is willing to take down any recipes if their owners do not want them included in the app.
