A Malaysian artist has recently gone viral after sharing a detailed, hand-painted portrait of the current Sultan of Kedah, Sultan Al-Aminul Karim Sultan Salehuddin.
Not only did the painting wow many for its uncanny resemblance to royalty, but the artist also stunned viewers by painting it directly on a piece of Songket.
The artist, known as Wisyi, took to Threads to share his artwork and the process behind it. According to him, the drawing was the third of his works to be showcased in a royal palace.
As if the artwork itself weren’t impressive enough, Wisyi took it up a notch by meticulously bedazzling the Songket with Swarovski crystals.
Wisyi shared that it took him 18 days in total to complete the piece.
Previously, Wisyi's hand-painted portrait of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, and his wife, Raja Permaisuri Agong Raja Zarith Sofiah, on Songket caught the eyes of many for its intricate details.
In a post on Instagram, Wisyi said that portrait took him three weeks to complete.
Needless to say, Malaysians were in awe of his artwork, with many praising how realistic the painting looks.
“Oh my God! The painting looks alive!”
A netizen said, “Wow! It looks exactly like a real photo. You're truly blessed by God.”
