A well-known Malaysian restaurant chain is attempting to set a Guinness World Record this Labour Day.
Oriental Kopi has announced that it will attempt to make history by setting a Guinness World Record for the most servings of nasi lemak sold in eight hours.

However, they can’t do it alone, and are calling on Malaysians for help.
In an Instagram post, the brand shared that the attempt to serve 10,000 plates of nasi lemak will take place on 1 May (Friday). According to Oriental Kopi, the initiative is about more than just breaking a world record.
“This is more than just an international record. This is a moment for all of us Malaysians, a moment to show the world who we are and what we can achieve together," the shared.
"This is the chance to showcase our food and our spirit as one nation.”
The challenge will take place at IOI City Mall, Putrajaya
In another post, Oriental Kopi clarified that the attempt will only be held at its IOI City Mall outlet and will not be available at other branches.
The record attempt will run from 12 PM to 8 PM.
For those planning to take part, each pack of nasi lemak will be priced at RM9.90. Participants will also receive exclusive rewards with every purchase.
Rewards include:
- World Records Coin x1 (Limited Edition)
- RM2 Oriental Kopi Voucher x1
- World Records Glass Cup x1 (Limited Edition)
Only applicable to purchases of five packs of nasi lemak
Additionally, participants will stand a chance to win an iPhone 17 Pro through a lucky draw.
