In the same boat are a group of Malaysian DJs and emcees who are attempting to set a record for having the most number of DJs in a virtual event.
According to a report in Malay Mail, the attempt by 124 DJs and emcees is set to be recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records for having the most number of DJs participating in a non-stop livestream called “IndepenDance 2020”.
In the attempt, the DJs and emcees will entertain for 11 days with the finale set to take place on August 30 at 10pm with a Merdeka countdown at midnight.
Coming together for a cause
The event is the brainchild of veteran DJ Jay Subramaniam, in conjunction with the upcoming Merdeka celebrations.
One of the participating DJs, TraxxFM’s G. Vimal said the event is also a show of solidarity for all the local DJs who have lost their jobs due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The DJs will perform in a systematic line-up on the Mixcloud Live platform.
So dim the lights, get on the platform and support them from your homes!
