Due to this, the government has implemented a new policy whereby those coming to Peninsular Malaysia from Sabah must undergo a mandatory COVID-19 test effective 27 September until 10 October.
This gave relief to many Malaysians but not until Minister of Defense Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob made an additional announcement about the new ruling.
According to The Star, the minister says that those returning from Sabah need not to undergo the 14-day home quarantine in the event that their test comes out negative.
“If your results come out negative, you can go to the nearest government health district office and show yout results to get your wristband removed. You are then free to go,” Ismail said.
“But if you want to take self-precautions by self-quarantining yourself, it’s up to you.”
This angered Malaysians as many felt that although their initial results are negative, there is a possibility for a positive result after the 14-day incubation period.

Some even gave examples such as the notorious Sivagangga Cluster and wondered if the same thing will happen again and if there is a possibility of a second Movement Control Order.
Others were upset that the new policy felt like it was a double standard between politicans and the people.
pakcik dari sivagangga dulu pun yg 1st time negative..kemudian merayau sana sini sbb ingat dh negative kan...politician will be the next sivagangga..sakit hati frontliner bila tgk mereka berckp xguna akal

But what happened to the original procedure ?

The incubation period for COVID-19 is thought to extend to 14 days?
One study reported that 97.5% of persons with COVID-19 who develop symptoms will do so within 11.5 days.
Now tak payah pulak.
Virus Covid dr Sabah jenis lain ke? https://t.co/Vdk5KGPIzw
This statement is total bullshit. My family and I are among those returnees from Sabah(we flew from KK airport) and his statement is totally opposite from what the kkm staffs had told us in klia 2. Planned to tweet this quite a while before ni by the whole process were too tiring https://t.co/EUF9Klbc1f

Wahhh hebatlah @MuhyiddinYassin. Kebal daripada undang-undang dan penyakit rupanya. Rakyat stuck 8 jam tunggu swab dekat airport, lepas tu kena kuarantin 14 hari kat rumah. Dia rilek je pergi wedding ? pic.twitter.com/Rya1R1dbsy

Gila. This is totally not according to guidelines.

You guys make the rules and change it everyday to suit yourself. https://t.co/ZC313FVFYL
Incubation period is 14 days la.

A person may have contracted the virus but test negative in the early part of the infection.
This is irresponsibility.
This is putting the lives of millions of Malaysians on the line. https://t.co/X6me1yfrvy
So disappoint with ministers yang baru balik dari Sabah. They should follow SOP, quarantine 14 days. The one yang suruh kuarantin and he also yang cakap tak payah kuarantin.??♂️

? Dahla Sabah tu red zone, balik dari sana tak perlu quarantine? Are you mocking the frontliner's efforts all this time? You politicians don't care about rakyat at all unless it's about election and power. I'm pissed. https://t.co/8vN5jGsvxM

Jangan selfish! https://t.co/TnxdgMd5MW
Our economy can't handle PKP 2.0, we cannot afford for another MCO,education will be postponed, people will lose their jobs and business will be affected. Please quarantine the vulnerable.
— IB (@IBCIG) September 28, 2020
So let's just do a nationwide lockdown again with this sort of stupid mentality. We are back at triple digits, majority in Sabah. 14 day quarantine should be mandatory for those returning from Sabah for the next one week at least. ?♀️?♀️?♀️?♀️?♀️ https://t.co/zWlcdcR0Mo

Tapi politician yg balik dari sabah, tk quarantine sbb keputusan dh -ve.sabah skrg zon merah, kes tggi setiap hari kot. Awat, diorg ni kebal covid ke? Adik aku hritu 2 kali -ve still quarantine sbb risau covid tu active in 14 days. Knp politician sng2 je free dgn alasan dh -ve? ?
— sweet munchies ? (@hasyaamir) September 28, 2020
If all the menteris didn’t go to Sabah to campaign I think they’d be a lot stricter about Sabah returnees. 100+ cases a day and no quarantine requirements at all?
— wes (@wesleythewong) September 28, 2020
Selfish.
No need PKP 2.0 la. Just impose compulsory quarantine for those people coming back from sabah. And lockdown the state too. Dont let anyone enter and exit the state!!!

So, what do you think? Should the government implement mandatory House Surveillance Order (HSO) or not?
