Cheras police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Rosdi Daud said that, according to the victim, the assault occurred at around 3:30 PM when she asked her husband to buy her Ayam Gepuk, which she was craving.
However, instead of responding as one normally would, the woman alleged that her husband began shouting at her and using harsh words.
“The husband is believed to have choked the wife before reaching for a knife and holding it to her throat. She was later slapped and punched in the head,” Rosdi said, as reported by NST.
As a result of the assault, the wife suffered multiple injuries, including one to her neck, and was treated at Canselor Tuanku Mukhriz Hospital.
Police have since confirmed that they received a report regarding the incident, and the case is currently under investigation.
