TLDR
- A Malaysian businesswoman had her Bentley seized by JPJ after being caught driving without valid road tax, insurance, or a driver’s licence, neglected since 2018.
- She claimed she had “overlooked” the renewals, saying her family usually handles such matters for her.
- Similar incidents occurred in 2024, including cases involving a BMW X6 and a Volvo XC90, both found without valid licences or insurance.
It’s normal for many of us to forget things, but for one Malaysian businesswoman, her forgetfulness landed her in deep trouble after she was caught driving her luxury car without a valid road tax for nearly eight years.
As if that wasn’t bad enough, she also failed to produce a valid driver’s licence when she was stopped by the authorities.

According to a report by Harian Metro, the woman driving the yellow Bentley Convertible was stopped during a special operation at Jalan Tun Razak, KL, on 9 February. It is understood that she was pulled over by Road Transport Department (JPJ) officers after they realised the vehicle lacked both valid road tax and insurance.
When questioned, the businesswoman claimed she had simply “overlooked” the matter, which led her to drive the luxury car without any valid documents, including a driver’s licence, since 2018.
JPJ has since confirmed that the car belonged to the woman. She also explained that she forgot about the documents because her family members are usually the ones who handle the renewals for her.
The Bentley was later seized by JPJ under the Road Transport Act 1987 for further action.
Not the first case

This incident is not the first of its kind. Back in 2024, JPJ confiscated a BMW X6 after the driver was found operating the vehicle without a valid driving licence for seven years. The car was also found to have no insurance.
Another similar case was reported that same year involving a Volvo XC90. Upon inspection, JPJ officers discovered that the Motor Vehicle Licence had expired and the vehicle also lacked valid insurance.
Further investigation revealed that the driver of the Volvo claimed the car actually belonged to the company he worked for and that he had “forgotten” to renew the road tax.
