Malaysians have raised concerns over the actions of a Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) officer who was caught on camera stepping on a motorcyclist’s head during an arrest.
In the video, which has since gone viral, two police officers can be seen confronting a suspect wearing a blue helmet. One of the officers later pulled the man off his motorcycle, causing him to fall, before stepping on the suspect’s head.

The incident took place in Kedah
In response to the viral video, Kulim District Deputy Police Chief Deputy Superintendent Tengku Mohd Faisal Tengku Yeng said initial investigations revealed that the incident occurred while officers were conducting a crime prevention patrol and arresting the suspect on Jalan Sungai Ular.
According to Tengku Mohd Faisal, a struggle broke out when officers attempted to arrest the suspect, during which the man kicked a police officer’s motorcycle. He then fled the scene by riding his motorcycle recklessly, travelling against the flow of traffic and endangering other road users.
“However, police officers managed to track down the suspect in front of a motorcycle accessories shop and arrested him a short time later,” he said, as reported by Berita Harian.

The man involved in the incident has been remanded for three days until Thursday.
Meanwhile, Tengku Mohd Faisal also shared that the Integrity and Standards Compliance Department (JIPS) has been instructed to conduct an investigation into the officer involved.
“The officer involved has been reassigned to administrative duties pending the outcome of the investigation."
Suspect tested positive for methamphetamine
An inspection of the motorcycle ridden by the 32-year-old suspect later revealed two transparent plastic bags believed to contain boiled ketum leaves.
In addition, an initial urine screening test found the suspect to have tested positive for methamphetamine.
As a result, police have opened investigations under Section 30(3) of the Poisons Act 1952, Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, and Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
