Everything You Need to Know About KLIA Airspace & Road Closures for the Upcoming Merdeka Celebration

ftmerdeka

In conjunction with Malaysia's 68th Merdeka celebration, KL International Airport (KLIA) will temporarily shut down its airspace starting today until August 31.

The airspace will reportedly be closed daily from 8 am to 12 pm throughout the six-day period.

According to NST, the move is presumably to make way for the Royal Malaysian Air Force to conduct rehearsals for an aerial flypast, which will be part of Malaysia's National Day parade on August 31.

Malaysia Airlines (MAS) has announced that it has retimed its flight schedules during the affected dates.

Passengers flying with MAS from KLIA on these dates are advised to arrive at least four hours before their rescheduled departure time to allow ample time for check-in and document verification at various checkpoints.

The airline also advises passengers to ensure they have all necessary travel documents and to check entry and exit requirements via official sources prior to travel.

Meanwhile, several roads in Putrajaya will also be closed for National Day parade rehearsals.
