Behind the Wheel
The 306hp MINI John Cooper Works Countryman Is A Mini Beast
Hot on the heels of the MINI JCW 3 Door is the Countryman, which adds two more doors and an appropriate number of seats for practical solutions. While its size is visually comparable to the brilliant BMW X1, the Countryman’s design makes it pop on the road.
The refreshed JCW Countryman receives all the visual upgrades found in the 3 Door, including the grille, signature headlights and taillights. It also wears the appropriate number of MINI and JCW logos, so it stands apart from the rest of the Countryman range.
Step in to find a 5.0-inch digital instrument cluster sitting behind the JCW steering wheel. The 8.8-inch colour display with touchscreen function is housed within the characteristic circle on the centre stack in the middle.

The SUV is also made more premium this time around. The seats are JCW Sport Seats wrapped in Dinamica Leather. Music is piped through a 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system and a panoramic sunroof to let the sun in. Just for the JCW Countryman, the MINI Yours Illuminated Interior Surface in Piano Black graces the cabin.
Although the Countryman runs with the same engine as the 3 Door, a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine, its output is different. The powerplant produces 306hp and 450Nm, paired with an eight-speed automatic, allowing the vehicle to clock in its 0-100kph in 5.1 seconds. The fuel economy is registered at 7.6 litres per 100 kilometres with 175g CO2 per kilometre.
The Countryman moves with the ALL4 all-wheel drive system hooked. Adding to that, the high-rigidity chassis, Adaptive Suspension, Dynamic Stability Control and electromechanical steering enhances handling. A four-piston fixed calliper disc brakes up front and single-piston floating-calliper disc brakes for the rear shoulder responsibility to cut speed.
That aside, the Countryman comes with driver assists, safety systems, breakdown and emergency services, concierge service and all the other benefits of owning a MINI. For all of the above mentioned, plus the four-year unlimited mileage warranty with free scheduled service, you only need to pay RM383,463,07 to own a JCW Countryman.
