BEHIND THE WHEEL
The G20 BMW 330i M Sport Is Now Made In Malaysia And RM40k Cheaper
When BMW Malaysia first launched the all-new 3-Series here it was only available in CBU (completely built-up) form, basically assembled overseas so the duties were going to be on the heavier side. Now though, with local assembly commencing for the model the price has dropped to a much more reasonable RM288,800.
It’s a fantastic car but previously priced at RM328,800, it was a hard sell against the likes of the Mercedes-Benz C300 AMG Line; its chief competition. Now the playing field has been levelled quite a bit in favour of the BMW and we can’t complain because it’s a hoot to drive.

As usual, the CKD (completely knocked down) 330i M Sport will be assembled at BMW’s plant in Gurun, Kedah, and pack the same equipment list as the CBU models.
Power still comes from the TwinPower Turbo 2.0-litre inline-four that makes 258hp and 400Nm of torque that is sent to the rear wheels via that flawless ZF eight-speed automatic. Those numbers are claimed to be capable of a century sprint time of 5.8-seconds and a top speed of 250kph.

It’s still instantly recognisable as an M Sport-kitted car with the 18-inch 790 Style M lightweight alloy wheels, blue brake calipers with the distinctive M logo and rear lip spoiler. Out of sight but definitely not missed is the passive M Sport suspension. Don’t forget those 3D taillights and Bi-LED headlights as well.
The cabin still houses the same bells and whistles as the CBU model, meaning you’ll find a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster flanked by a 10.25-inch infotainment display with Apple CarPlay. A 10-speaker sound system keeps the music flowing for the passengers that are now cosseted in Vernasca leather upholstery; the sole change from the CBU model’s Dakota leather.

Last but certainly not the least, the G20 330i packs the new BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant and BMW Digital Key that allows you to access the car with the use of NFC from selected Samsung devices. You can even start the car when the aforementioned Samsung device is placed in the wireless charging tray. Gone are the days of forgetting your car keys.
If you opt for BMW Group Financial Services Malaysia’s balloon financing, the 330i M Sport can be yours from just RM3,298 monthly based on an 80 per cent loan amount for a five-year tenure.
Lest we forget, owners will be able to enjoy the full BMW Malaysia ownership experience that comprises a five-year unlimited warranty with unlimited mileage and free scheduled maintenance, a two-year tyre warranty for the run-flats, BMW roadside Assistance, BMW White Card and BMW Service Online.
