HOFELE Ultimate HGLE Is Big Luxury In A More Manageable Package
Hofele have been very busy this year. Despite not being able to showcase their creations in all their glory at the still-born Geneva Motor Show, Hofele has not shied away from their well-deserved spotlight. Already showcasing their HE Cabriolet and the HG Sport, Hofele has also unveiled their ‘Ultimate’ range of ultra-luxurious SUV’s with the Ultimate HGLS. Now, Hofele has gone ahead and expanded their ‘Ultimate’ range with the smaller, but equally over-the-top, ultimate HGLE mid-size SUV.
As this HGLE carries the ‘Ultimate’ moniker, one can expect it to feature some of the automotive world’s finest luxuries, together with quality German fit and finish. The exterior of the HGLE is marvellously finished in a two-tone paint scheme, with a glistening Tiffany Gold over a deep Obsidian Black.

Much like its bigger sibling, the HGLS, the HGLE features oodles of polished chrome accents around the side mirrors, front and rear bumper, chrome exhaust tips and uniquely, a chrome strip down the centre line of the bonnet. With the trademark Hofele ‘H’ adorns the massive chrome grille, and Hofele’s signature 23-inch Turbine forged-alloy wheels, road presence is something the HGLE has in buckets.
As sophisticated as the exterior is, the accurate measure of any luxury automobile worth its salt comes from its interior, and how it treats its occupants rather than rewarding the driver. Inside the HGLE is a lovely place to be in, where the rear bench has been replaced with two individually adjustable seats, divided by a custom centre console.
Attention to detail has been the key to every Hofele interior, and the HGLE is no different. The interior is a masterclass in luxury, with acres of the finest Nappa leather, Alcantara and Hofele’s bespoke stitching on every visible surface and point of contact. Not a single piece of plastic is left visible for the meticulous eyes of Hofele designers, and of course, the discerning future owner.
Such is the attention to detail that Hofele has even customised the rear luggage compartment with high gloss black and polished aluminium trims. Hofele’s signature perforations and stitching, together with the gold piping, add a certain sense of panache that merely sitting in the Ultimate HGLE is an occasion in itself.
The contemporary design achieved using modern manufacturing techniques with time-honoured traditional handcraftsmanship, the Ultimate HGLE stands out amongst the many premium SUV’s available today. The Ultimate HGLE is based on the Mercedes-Benz GLE, and the Hofele enhancements are available throughout the GLE range, from the base GLE 300d all the way to the GLE 63. However, as with all things lovely in this capitalist world, the Hofele Ultimate HGLE will only be available to those lucky few with bottomless pockets.
