Lamborghini Huracán EVO RWD Spyder Promises Power, Noise, Smoke And More Wind In Your Hair

Revealed for the first time with Augmented Reality (AR), the RWD Spyder is visually gobsmacking as any Lamborghini should be. With a redesigned front splitter, air intake and rear diffuser to distinguish it from its AWD sibling, the RWD Spyder has an incredibly dynamic wedge-design in true Lamborghini fashion, which the company said, “delivers pure lines and aerodynamic efficiency with roof both open and closed”.

The RWD Spyder’s soft top has been engineered specifically to blend cohesively with the car’s aerodynamic characteristics, ensuring optimised drag reduction and downforce with the roof both open and closed, matching the aerodynamic performance of the coupe. The soft-top roof stows within 17 seconds under the rear hood, even while driving up to a speed of 50kph. The driver can electronically open the back window with the soft-top up or down, giving full access to the aural symphony of the V10 into the cabin.

On the topic of performance, the Huracán Evo RWD Spyder packs the familiar V10 found in all Huracán variants. Lamborghini has tuned the 5.2-litre V10 to produce 602bhp and 560Nm of torque for the RWD Spyder. This is the same power output as the RWD coupe, but the Spyder makes the 0-100kph sprint in 3.5 seconds and tops out at 323kph. This is 0.2 seconds slower and 2kph lower in speed when compared to the RWD Coupe is expected as the Spyder weighs marginally more at 1,509kg.

The Huracán Evo RWD Spyder is engineered to be a driver’s car, focused on balancing performance and driver skills. The Huracán’s ANIMA drive-mode selector is located on the steering wheel, giving the driver full control of Lamborghini’s Performance Traction Control System (P-TCS). The P-TCS traction control system is designed for performance in all conditions, managing traction across the driven wheels. With varying degrees of power and traction control availability between the STRADA, SPORT and CORSA driving modes gives sublime performance and traction during sharp cornering. Or, it could also let the driver drift the corners like a little hatchback delivering ingredients up a mountain.

When you’re done finding the meaning of life around the corners, the Lamborghini offers a hushed interior with the windows and roof up. Cabin insulation is further aided by two removable lateral windshields that dampen noise in the cabin even at high speed. As with all Huracán’s the RWD Spyder comes with an 8.4-inch touchscreen in the centre console that controls the car’s functions and mobile connectivity, internet access and Apple CarPlay.
