BEHIND THE WHEEL
The Mazda CX-30 Will Arrive Soon To Give The Competitors Migraines
The Mazda CX-30 is always destined to occupy the niche between the Mazda CX-3 and the Mazda CX-5 due to its size. The CX-30 will give you more space than the CX-3, but it won’t be as cavernous as the CX-5. Although, to be more accurate, the CX-30 is closer related to the Mazda3 than the SUVs mentioned above.

Being the second model in Mazda’s new-generation lineup, it is not surprising that the CX-30 shares Mazda3’s interior design and its features, right down to the Mazda Connect Infotainment system and Commander Control. Since the CX-30 is an SUV, there’s more boot space in the rear — 430 litres that can be expanded to 1,432 litres.
You can choose between one of two engine choices — a 2.0-litre petrol engine and a 1.8-litre diesel engine. No matter which engine you go with, both are paired with the six-speed automatic, and both are 2WD.

The 2.0-litre petrol engine produces 163hp at 6,000rpm and 213 Nm at 4,000rpm. There are two trims available with the petrol-engine variants and can be told apart by the front signature illumination, which comes with the high spec CX-30.
Notably, the high spec CX-30 comes standard with four front and for rear parking sensors. Oddly, the base spec SUV gets none even though having rear parking sensors are the norm these days. Nevertheless, both CX-30s will have a reverse camera.

On the other hand, the 1.8-litre diesel engine generates 114hp at 4,000rpm and 270Nm at 1,600-2,700rpm. This variant only comes in a high spec and all the top-shelf items Mazda has to offer. The SkyActiv-D CX-30 rides on 17-inch tyres as opposed to the Skyactiv-G’s 16-inch tyres.
Both high spec CX-30 is armed with advanced safety technologies. The list of safety features includes Adaptive Front-Lighting System, High Beam Control, Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Driver Attention Alert, Smart Brake Support (front and rear) and Mazda Radar Cruise Control.

Prices for the CX-30 starts at RM143,119.20 for the 2.0G, RM164,119.20 for the 2.0G High and RM173,027.70 for the 1.8D High. All CX-30 SUVs is packaged with a 5-year Manufacturer Warranty and a 5-year Free Maintenance, inclusive of labour, parts and lubes. An excellent point to note is that all CX-30 will be fully imported from Japan.
You can start queuing up for the Mazda CX-30 as the order books are now open. Expect the CX-30 to launch early next year and delivery should follow shortly after. Will you wait in line or will you wait and see before getting in front?
