Mazda Wins The World Car Design Of The Year, Again
As if picking up two Red Dots aren’t enough, Mazda has gone to Toronto to bring home another design award. The Japanese carmaker can now call the Mazda3 the world’s most beautiful car after winning the 2020 World Car Design of the Year; as if they didn’t already know.
Mazda has always treated its vehicles as works of art. What started as a design language inspired by big cats hunting its prey — prowling, pouncing and sprinting. The updated Kodo design language simplifies the composition by doing away unnecessary hard edges created by folding metal. The vehicle’s lines are now defined by the contrast of light and shadows, which move when the car is in motion. There is sophistication in simplicity.
The World Car Awards started by a group of international journalists in 2004. This year’s judging panel consists of 86 journalists from over 25 countries. This isn’t the first time Mazda has won the award. Mazda first won the award back in 2016 with the MX-5.
