You Can Now Own A Part Of The Late Paul Walker’s Staggering Car Collection

Walker owned some iconic cars in his time and as we’re seeing in a recent Barrett-Jackson listing of his collection to be auctioned off, had some ultra-rare machinery too.

The auctioneers will be putting 21 vehicles from Walker’s collection under the hammer and perhaps the most surprising are five BMW E36 M3 Lightweights of the 18 cars and three motorcycles.

Even to the most hardcore BMW fans, the E36 M3 Lightweight can slip under the radar. Only 125 units were built of the track-oriented coupe based on the US-spec M3 that was missing a few ponies from its stable over the Euro-spec M3. It weighed in 128kg lighter but still made the same 240hp from the S50 straight-six.

Setting it apart from the regular M3 were a big rear wing and M-colored checkered flag decals on the trunk and hood. Given the limited numbers produced, seeing five for sale in a go is probably a once-in-a-lifetime occurrence; just like that time your friend’s project car started on the first crank.

Out of the five, one of the Lightweights had its wing and decals deleted from the factory, making it a true unicorn and sleeper.

Still, somebody needs to explain how on earth the late Walker got his hands on five of these rare machines.

It’s not purely a BMW-heavy auction though, there’s also a couple of JDM pieces in the form of a Nissan Skyline R32 racecar and a modded Nissan 370Z that appeared in Fast Five.
