The Volkswagen Arteon is arguably one of the nicest-looking sedans the company has ever produced. Although still relatively new on our shores, the car was launched in 2020; Volkswagen Malaysia will soon release the updated Arteon.

The new Volkswagen Arteon R-Line 4MOTION is estimated to cost between RM245,000 and RM255,000 when it hits the streets. Volkswagen Malaysia has begun taking orders for the sedan.

Immediately you’ll note that the inclusion of Volkswagen’s all-wheel drive system, 4MOTION, is new to the Arteon. The power that goes to the wheels comes from the new 2.0-litre TSI turbocharged engine that produces 286hp and 350Nm of torque. Memory champions will notice the bump in horsepower, nearly 100hp more than the current car. A seven-speed wet-clutch DSG handles the transfer of power, sending the Arteon to 100kph from standstill in 5.6 seconds.

On the outside, the Arteon will wear a redesigned front grille and bumper, with full LED headlights offering illumination. Behind, the new LED 3D lights with sequential indicators accentuate even more the car’s sloping fastback design.

You’ll have a choice of metallic and pearl effect colours to coat the Arteon. Metallic hues include Lapiz Blue, Manganese Grey and Pyrite Silver, whereas Deep Black and Oryx White get the pearl.

The Arteon’s interior is not forgotten. Among the highlights is a new steering wheel with haptic touch control, ErgoComfort sports seats in Nappa Carbon leather and a 12-speaker 700-watt Harman Kardon audio system. A 9.2-inch Discover Pro infotainment with voice and gesture controls, and wireless App-Connect for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, should find a home in the middle of the dashboard. As for safety, the Arteon adds Lane Assist, Side Assist and Driver Alert to the list.
