Absolutely no one likes a short warranty period, no matter the product. Like all things pleasurable, everyone wants it to last as long as possible. In an announcement, earlier this year, have extended the hybrid battery warranty period for all new Volvo vehicles registered from 1 January 2020 onwards to eight years. All good, except that it leaves the older customers in the lurch.

Well, it appears that the people have spoken loud enough for Volvo Malaysia to bring older vehicles into the fold. So, if you have an electrified Volvo purchased since 3 December 2015, including the XC90 T8 PHEV, your battery warranty has been extended to the same eight years or 160,000km, whichever comes first.

At the time of writing, Volvo Car Malaysia’s electrified lineup consists of the XC90, XC60, S90 and the S60 T8 R-Design CKD that was launched this year. All Volvo plug-in hybrid vehicles are offered with a five-year/120,000km warranty on the car, and an eight-year/160,000km warranty on the hybrid battery.
