Forget about the budget. We can't deny the creativity of our Malaysian music scene and the artists that deliver some unexpected visuals to accompany their hits and singles. If you have been out of the loop when it comes to the music scene in Malaysia, we did a little digging and found some of the latest releases in music videos by Malaysian artists. Admittedly, we educated ourselves on some of the more prominent artists in our neck of the woods while researching these videos, and we must say, we are very much impressed by the existing talent, from hip hop to rock, and even pop.

Here are 10 of the latest music videos from Malaysian singer-songwriters:

1. Nik Qistina - "Young Hearts" - October 10, 2016

Nik Qistina is a 16-year-old girl who started her music career with her first single, "Young Hearts", and released her music video on October 10. Interesting fact about her is that she became well-known when she posted herself singing cover songs on Vine and Instagram. She even sang a duet with Greyson Chance in Penang!


2. Ayda Jebat - "Bawaku Berkelana" (“How Far I’ll Go” from Moana) - November 9, 2016

Ayda Jebat is a 24-year-old singer and actress who is famous for acting in Love you 200%, a Malaysian TV show, and for her modeling career. She is also known for her hit song, "Pencuri Hati". Recently, she sang a Malay version of “How Far I’ll Go” from the Disney movie, Moana, and it is amazing.


3. Dato Siti Nurhaliza - "Menatap Dalam Mimpi" - November 2, 2016

Everyone knows the renowned Dato Siti Nurhaliza in Malaysia and ever since her debut, she has received many international awards and recognitions. One of her songs, "Menatap Dalam Mimpi", which came out in 2015, has a music video, which was released on November 2.


4. Altimet - "Seru" - November 22, 2016

Ahmad Abdul Rahman, also known as Altimet, is a Malaysian rapper who started his solo career in 2007. Fascinatingly, he came from the now disbanded group called Teh Tarik Crew, who was active between 1999 to 2007. He recently released one of his music videos, "Seru", on November 22.


5. Salammusik Feat Benzooloo - "Dewi Seraya" - November 17, 2016

Salammusik is a band who performs rock, reggae and hip hop tunes. They are known for incorporating elements of modern culture into their musical style. One interesting thing to know about them is that they were already touring Europe in 2013 and 2014 despite the fact that they only released their debut album in 2012. Their new music video, "Dewi Seraya", made its debut on November 17.


6. Liyana Jasmay - "Oh Na Na" - October 28, 2016

Liyana Jasmay is a Kuantan-born singer and actress who is known for her roles in movies like the box office hit, Papadom, and the indie movie, Kami. Impressively, she also won the Best Actress Award at the Malaysian Film Festival in 2009. She has a new single, "Oh Na Na", and the music video for it was released on October 28. Fun fact: the music video was shot in Los Angeles!


7. Anuar Zain - "Andainya Takdir" - September 22, 2016

Anuar Zain is a Malacca-born singer who is popular for his four successful eponymous albums (sounds cool to have your name as an album title), and his many awards. He has released his fifth album, Anuar Zain Vol. V, on the first day of October after his hiatus. He released his music video, "Andainya Takdir", on September 22.


8. Tasha Manshahar - "Bukan Aku" - October 24, 2016

Tasha Manshahar is a Malaysian singer who became prominent after she posted her song, "Be Mine", on YoTtube on February 2, 2012. She was studying to become a teacher when she was contacted by the music industry, FMC Music, to pursue a career in singing. She is currently teaching English but still focuses on her music career. She released her music video for "Bukan Aku" on October 2016.


9. Elizabeth Tan - "Tabah" - September 14, 2016

Elizabeth Tan is a 23-year-old singer who is known for her hit song, "Knock Knock". The music video for her new single, "Tabah" was released on September 14. In the video, she can be seen dancing along to the music while looking stunning in her outfits.


10. Yuna - "Poor Heart" - October 27, 2016

Yuna is proof that anything can happen if you work hard enough – including being an internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter despite hailing from a little country known as Malaysia.. A native from Kedah, she has been writing songs her entire life and she’s still doing it. One of the songs from the deluxe version of her recent album, Crush, is called "Poor Heart" and the music video was released on October 27.
