10 Years After Releasing Her Debut Album, Where is Paris Hilton Now?
2006 seemed like not too long ago but before you know it, 10 years have already passed by. It was the year The Devil Wears Prada became an iconic movie in the fashion industry, the year Italy won the FIFA World Cup (remember Zidane’s controversial headbutt?), and also probably the year you were still in school, preparing for PMR or SPM. But there was also another ‘culturally important’ event that happened that year. It was none other than the debut of Paris Hilton’s self-titled album. Yesterday marked the 10th year anniversary of Paris.

The album received mixed reviews from music critics, some loved it, some hated it, but mostly hated the fact that they actually loved it. Admit it, she might be far from Mariah Carey’s vocal standards but her songs were really infectious. It had this catchy beat that’ll linger in your head the whole day. Her album went on to sell 600,000 copies worldwide by the end of October 2013 and her songs – Stars Are Blind and Nothing in This World hit critical acclaim after it peaked in the Billboard charts. Not bad, eh?

So fast forward to the year 2016: the summer Olympics in Rio just ended, America is now divided in electing their new president, and Malaysia...just had the best Olympic performance yet. So, what could Paris Hilton possibly be up to since making her music debut? Well, she’s had a number of modelling stints, a few movies and TV series appearances, a line of VERY successful fragrances, and also acted as ambassador for countless commercial brands.
Long gone are the days of her clubbing phase as she now prefers to sit behind the deck and entertain the crowd instead of dancing (her knickers) off on the dance floor. Her new prolific career seems to be doing well and she has scored residencies at Amnesia Ibiza and Harrah's Atlantic City. To top it off, she frequently headlines huge music festivals alongside notable DJs such as Hardwell and Axwell. Local gigs aside, the Hilton hotel heir also jetsets around the world to perform and has stopped by in Malaysia last year to DJ for Empire City.
We look forward to what she has in store for us in the following years, who knows she might turn out to be a Grammy-winning producer. So, keep up the stellar work, girl. Here’s to another 10 years of Paris Hilton. There can never be another you.
