Hong Kong heartthrob Aaron Kwok dons buckteeth to play a bandit who has plotted a major heist but it is unexpectedly foiled by two middle-aged men a taxi driver and a social worker (played by Richie Jen and Gordon Lam). As a result, the trio has to run from the pursue of a policewoman, as well as engaging in a firearm to reclaim the stolen cash, putting their life on the line.

Most of us grew up watching Singaporean director Jack Neo’s heartwarming films and he has finally made a second sequel to his 1998 smash hit film. Ah Huang, Ah Qiang and Ah Hui have been friends for as long as they can remember. They lend Ah Huang money when his mounting debts drive him to desperate measures, but he uses the money to build an illegal business instead. Will the wayward man turn from his ways? This comedy film also stars Mark Lee and Henry Thia who were also in the first two films.

Two poker stars in their prime, Cheng Jialang and Wei Yifu are about to have their first face-to-face match. However, Cheng Jialang accidentally transfers his poker talent to a small-time crook named Huang Xiaoqi, who has no previous experience. The two must find a way to join forces to gain victory over Wei Yifu. The movie features a star-studded cast including Jack Lim, Philip Keung, Wang Lei, Namewee, Yumi Wong, Xiao Yu, Yuan Teng, Wayne Thong, and Jovi Heng.

The 2022 family comedy film was reportedly Hong Kong’s no.1 box office comedy of all time. The original cast members including Stephy Tang, Louis Cheung, Ivana Wong, Lin Min Chen, and Peter Chan Charm Man, return for the sequel. One family, three couples, and three weddings…all on the same day. When you marry someone, you marry their entire family, and the brothers discover the hard way that family members from both sides want to have a say in the wedding.

5. The Movie Emperor



Another Hong Kong leading man has decided to steer away from his typical roles, choosing to act as a…pig farmer. The Chinese satirical comedy film which parodies celebrity culture sees Andy Lau, a narcissistic actor take on a role in an indie drama where he shocks his legion of fans by going to the countryside to experience rural life, but finds himself getting into a series of disasters with the village people instead due to his arrogance.

6. Happy Dragons

It’s the year of the mythical creature on the Chinese zodiac, so of course there’s a movie named after it. Veteran actors Eric Chen, Freddie Wong, Sam Chong, and Remon Lim bring on the laughs in this movie about a retired secret agent who comes across the mahjong collection of his late comrade. He plays the game with his three childhood friends but they are sent on a quest to find the ‘Golden Relic’ which turns back time and makes everyone young again.

This movie brings to mind the Korean hit movie 200 Pounds Beauty (an overweight superstar anyone? This Singaporean Mandarin rom-com was actually filmed six years ago and stars the late Alien Huang.
