March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb, but when it comes to K-dramas, it’s packed with what promise to be hits all month long! This month sees some big names hitting the small screen such as the highly anticipated ‘Queen of Tears’ starring Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won as well as a promising fantasy drama with Joo Won as the lead. Grab your honey butter almonds, and start reading our list:

1. Wonderful World
When Cha Eun Woo was in KL in January, he spoke about his upcoming drama and it’s finally coming out. We’re excited about this because it looks like he’ll be displaying his acting chops more in the drama based on the teaser alone.

Its title appears to be the antithesis of its plot as it revolves around a psychology professor (Kim Nam Joo) who seeks revenge for her son’s death after he dies unjustly. Along the way, she meets a young man (Cha Eun Woo) who is set on medical school but drops out and lives a tough life after he loses his family.

Premieres: 1 March 2024 on Disney+ Hotstar

2. Chicken Nugget
“My daughter turned into a chicken nugget”: the premise of this comedy show sounds out of this world bizarre, but it promises to be a whole lot of fun. Adapted from the hit webtoon ‘Fried Chicken’, a beautiful young girl (Kim Yoo Jung) enters a mysterious machine and turns into a…chicken nugget. Her father (Ryu Seung Ryong) and her admirer/intern (Ahn Jae Hong) embark on a zany quest to make her human again and discover some dark secrets along the way.

Premieres: 15 March 2024 on Netflix

3. Midnight Photo Studio
This fantasy K-drama is described as a healing romance and focuses on a photographer (Joo Won), the seventh owner of Midnight Studio, which is only for ghosts. He is cursed to live for only 35 years and is bound by a contract to take pictures of the dead. A formerly successful lawyer (Kwon Na Ra) who now suffers from financial struggles believes that the cursed photographer might be able to change his fate.

What piqued our interest for this drama was the fact that the leads already broke down in tears during the script reading, which hints at an emotional storyline despite the comedic elements in the teaser:
Premieres: 11 March 2024 on ENA

4. Queen of Tears

This drama has already been hotly discussed on social media as it marks Kim Soo Hyun’s first acting project since 2021’s One Ordinary Day. It is also a team-up between industry titans — the script is penned by acclaimed writer Park Ji-Eun, who is known for Crash Landing on You and My Love from the Star (where Kim Soo Hyun was the male lead), in collaboration with directors Jang Young-woo (Sweet Home,) and Kim Hee-won (Vincenzo).

Baek Hyun Woo (Kim Soo Hyun) who was born in a rural area graduated from a prestigious university and married Hong Hae In (Kim Ji Won), an arrogant third-generation chaebol from the Queens Group family. Featuring a love-hate relationship trope within the context of marriage, the two rekindle their romance.

This thriller drama is adapted from the popular web novel and is about Seo Jung Won (Kim Ha Neul), an investigative reporter who hosts the current affairs TV program “Let’s Grab Him by The Collar”. She becomes greatly popular due to her unique way of exposing crimes committed by culprits and her wit.
