What is it about: If you love Norse mythology, you'll definitely love 'Ragnarok'. It tells the story of a teenager named Magne who was mysteriously given the power of Thor, the Norse God of Thunder. With his newfound superpowers, Magne must prevent Ragnarok from destroying the small town of Edda.Why you should watch it: It is a modern day retelling of the Norse mythology, so all you history buffs will love what they did with gods like Thor, Odin and Loki. Besides, the entire series look so pretty, thanks to the gorgeous Norwegian town of Odda the series was filmed in. Ahh, how we miss travelling.

#2 'Mythic Quest'
What is it about: 'Mythic Quest' is a comedy series that follows the employees of a video game studio which produces 'Mythic Quest', a super popular MMORPG. However, the dysfunctional team has to find ways to work with each other if they want to make 'Mythic Quest' the greatest video game ever made.Why you should watch it: It is highly relatable, obviously. The characters in the series will definitely remind you of someone from your very own office, and that's the most charming part of the series. On top of that, the humour is pretty spot on. Trust us; this is one series that you would have no problem finishing in a day because it is such an entertaining and easy watch.

#3 'Disney's Big Shot'
What is it about: When a big-time college basketball coach was fired from his job, he must redeem himself by coaching an elite all-girls private high school. The only problem is, no one taught him how to coach a bunch of teenage girls.Why you should watch it: We don't get a lot of TV shows about sports, but 'Disney's Big Shot' is arguably one of the better ones that was released recently. Everything about the show was very well put together; from the cast to the production quality to the script. It is also a coming-to-age kinda series, so if you loved '10 Things I Hate About You', you'll love this one.

#4 'The Last Dance'
What is it about: 'The Last Dance' follows NBA megastar Michael Jordan and his team, the Chicago Bulls, as they navigate through their 1997-1998 NBA season. The 10-part docuseries follows the Jordan timeline from when he was an emerging star on his high school team to becoming a worldwide marketing force and cultural figure.Why you should watch it: Even if you're not a fan of basketball, we guarantee that you can still learn a lot of things from Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls. Obviously, you know who Michael Jordan is, but if you have no idea why he's pegged as one of the greatest athletes to ever live, you'll find out in 'The Last Dance'. #5 'Projek: Anchor SPM'
What is it about: If there's one local TV series that you have to watch this year, it's this one. 'Projek: Anchor SPM' follows a group of Form Five students from Sekolah Tengku Isa Anuar (STIA) in Cameron Highlands who came up with an elaborate cheating plan to help them pass their SPM examinations. Of course, things don't always go according to plan.Why you should watch it: One reason: it's arguably one of the best local TV series to come out this year. The acting, the treatment, the script and the overall production quality of the TV series had Malaysians heaping praises. Also, 'Projek: Anchor SPM' is totally relatable, especially those of you who dreaded sitting for your SPM examinations.

#6 'Ted Lasso'
What is it about: Yes, we know what you're thinking: another sports series. But 'Ted Lasso' is really good, we promise. It tells the story of Ted Lasso, a small-time American football coach who was hired by a wealthy businesswoman to run a professional football team in England. There's only one problem: Ted has no experience whatsoever in coaching football.Why you should watch it: While most sports series follow almost the exact same formula, 'Ted Lasso' managed to set itself apart with its brand of comedy. The series is very well-written, and its lovable characters, especially Ted, will get you invested in no time. 'Ted Lasso' is just a wholesome TV series with a lot of heart.

#7 'Girl From Nowhere'
What is it about: If you're in the mood for something creepy, 'Girl From Nowhere' will whet your appetite. This thriller series from Thailand follows Nanno, a mysterious and clever girl who transfers to different schools to expose the lies and misdeeds of the students and faculty. When the truth about her high school life is revealed, Nanno makes sure there are no happy endings.Why you should watch it: 'Girl From Nowhere' touches on very relatable topics that are prevalent in our current society, like acting rich to impress your friends, sex and consent and actions and consequences. Also, the creepiness level in some episodes are dialled up to 11, and it will send shivers down your spine. Kitty Chicha Amatayakul, who plays Nanno, will haunt your dreams, so beware.

#8 'Navillera'
What is it about: From the land of K-pop, one of the more underrated TV series to come out this year was 'Navillera'. It tells the story of a 70-year-old man who dreams of becoming a ballet dancer. He meets a 23-year-old gifted dancer, and together, they lift each other out of harsh realities and rise to the challenges.Why you should watch it: 'Navillera' is one of the more hearwarming Korean dramas to come out this year. It teaches you about humanity and the fragility of human lives, and the importance of not giving up and following your dreams. Park In-hwan, who plays the old man learning to dance, did such a good job in the series, you'll feel like giving your dad a call after every episode. Disclaimer: 'Navilerra' will make you cry a lot, so remember to get your tissue boxes ready.
