90s Kids, Get Ready For A Blast From The Past – 'Space Jam 2' Is Coming Soon!
1996 was a time to be alive. The greatest crossover in movie history took place that very year – the Looney Tunes and basketball legend Michael Jordan (MJ).
Who’d knew that our beloved Saturday morning cartoon characters would be the perfect match for one of the biggest basketball superstars ever as they team up for a classic film titled Space Jam, which also happens to be the highest-grossing basketball movie of all time.
It has been 22 years since the movie first premiered but it remains a cult favourite, especially among 90s kids.
Well guys, if you’ve been wondering if there’s a continuation to where Bugs Bunny and MJ left off, the answer is YES.But this time around, instead of MJ, a current basketball star will be helming the sequel. It’s none other than LeBron James.
What’s even more interesting is, the director of critically-acclaimed Marvel movie Black Panther, Ryan Coogler, will be producing the movie.
The basketball star took to his Instagram page on Wednesday to share the good news.According to The Hollywood Reporter, James said he “loved his (Coogler) vision” and what he had done with Black Panther previously.
Terence Nance will be directing the movie.
At the moment, neither LeBron or Coogler or Nance has shared any further information about the movie, but production of the movie will reportedly take place in 2019 during the NBA off-season.
Some have also speculated that the movie’s release date might be on 23 January 2021, based on the Instagram post announcing the movie’s sequel.
We don't know about you, but we can't wait for Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Tweety Bird and Lola Bunny to team up once again.
