Michelle Yeoh is undoubtedly our most decorated actress after her Golden Globe win just a couple of months back for her movie Everything Everywhere All At Once. Since then, many predicted that Michelle will also win an Oscar in the same category.

Fast forward to today, and those predictions are true. Michelle Yeoh, the former Miss Malaysia World winner from Ipoh, won the first Oscar award of her career - while also being the first Asian and Malaysian in history.

Michelle Yeoh started her international acting career in Hong Kong with her first main role in Yes, Madam. She then starred alongside Jackie Chan in Police Story 3: Super Cop before embarking into her Bond Girl era in Tomorrow Never Dies.

Previously, Michelle highlighted the struggles of being a female Asia actress and creative in the Hollywood industry; but even Hollywood couldn’t deny her talent. In the past few years alone, Michelle starred in a number of successful films including Crazy Rich Asians, Shang Chi & The Legend of the Ten Rings and finally, Everything Everywhere All At Once.

The film, Everything Everywhere All At Once was nominated in 11 categories and won 7 of them.

In her post-win speech, she dedicated her win to the boys and girls who ‘looked like her’ together with a message to women her age.

Congratulations Michelle Yeoh!
