In just three days of nationwide screening, including previews, Malaysian action film Blood Brothers: Bara Naga has managed to collect a whopping sum of RM14.9 million at the box office.

Chief Executive Officer of the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (Finas), Datuk Azmir Saifuddin Mutalib, said the success of the film reflects the growing interest among the audiences in local films following the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Azmir also attributed the success of the film to well-organised promotional strategies and strong cooperation between cinemas, distributors and producers.

“Looking ahead to this weekend, we estimate that the takings could increase by another RM4 to RM5 million. If the trend continues, it's not impossible for the film to surpass ‘Sheriff: Narko Integriti’, which grossed RM60.5 million last year,” he said, as reported in Malay Mail.

The box office collection of Blood Brothers: Bara Naga has also surpassed the film's budget, which is RM7 million.

The film was first screened throughout the country on April 10. Directed by Syafiq Yusof and Abhilash Chandra, Blood Brothers: Bara Naga follows the story of a close-knit group of men working in an ‘elite security’ organisation that provides protection for influential figures and criminal leaders. Their bonds were tested when a betrayal occurs within their ranks.

The film boasts a star-studded cast including Syafiq Kyle, Sharnaaz Ahmad, Shukri Yahaya, Syazwan Zulkifly and Amelia Henderson.
