His story was shared far and wide, with his aunt Nicole Noel Walker even creating an Instagram page to share his heroic action and asking people to help get the attention of Bridger's favourite superheroes from 'The Avengers'.
As usual, the internet delivered!
All the hashtags and shout outs on social media attracted the attention of the actors who plays Bridger's favourite superheros, including the leader of ' The Avengers', Captain America, himself!
A superhero shield for a real life hero
Hollywood actor Chris Evans sent Bridgers a video commending the little boy for his bravery and promised to send him an original 'Captain America' shield."Pal, you're a hero, what you did was so brave, so selfless — your sister is so lucky to have you as a big brother. Your parents must be so proud of you," Chris Evan said in the video.
"Keep being the man you are, we need people like you.
"Hang in there, I know recovery might be tough, but based on what I've seen, I don't think there's much that can slow you down," he added.
To add to the 'aww' factor, Bridger even wore his 'Captain America' suit when he was shown the video.
Although the person who was showing him the video and recording sounded much more excited than Bridger himself, we're sure the little kids day was made by the video.
It is by Chris Evans, after all.
What happened?
According to a statement posted by Bridger's father, Robert Walker, on his Instagram, the little boy and his younger sister were at a friend's house when the incident happened. As the both of them went to the home's backyard, the sister pointed at the two dogs and said that one was nice and one was mean.
This was when the "mean" dog, a one-year-old German Shepard, charged towards them.
Bridger stepped in front of her sister and asked her to run. The dog caught on to Bridger's cheeks, causing the injury that got him 90 stitches.
Once the dog released him, he grabbed his sister's hand and ran to a safer place.
The family whose home the kids were at immediately called Bridger's parents and got the necessary help.
According to the family, Bridger told them: "If someone had to die, I thought it should be me."
What a brave and selfless little boy!
Since his story went viral, Bridgers has received positive messages from thousands of people, including Hollywood A-listers Mark Ruffalo, the Russo Brothers, Tom Holland and Anne Hathaway.
The family even received messages asking if they are taking donations, but have asked those wishing to do so to direct the money to either to Mission 22, and American organisation dedicated to helping suicidal war veterans or Operation Underground Railroad, and organisation that is trying to fight child trafficking.
Now we know where the boy get his golden heart from!
