2016 has been a year of highs and lows for many, but the show must go on and no one knows this better than Celine Dion. As the year draws to a close, the 48-year-old singer shared a retrospective video of the past year, beginning as it did for her – the death of her husband Rene Angelil – with a number of emotional footage documenting Dion saying goodbye to the love of her life.
The diva soon returned to the stage in February for her performance at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas, which she described as one of the most difficult performances of her life. Fans are also reminded of the moment at the Billboard Music Awards when Dion’s son Rene Charles surprised her with a special Icon Award.

Throughout the rest of the year, Dion poured her heart and soul into performing for her fans, travelling across the globe with Angelil in her spirit. The video ends with her 1,000th show in Las Vegas and a heartfelt note: "My voice does not resonate without you. You have made my childhood dream come true. I hope I have inspired you to reach out for yours."

Dion will be spending her first Christmas without Angelil this year and she is staying strong for her family to enjoy the holidays. "I have to stand tall and strong because this is my way of living: stand tall, be positive, pick your battles, do the best you can and to live for today, not for tomorrow, for today, and know nothing is perfect, not everything you want will happen," she said.

She is also planning to take her three children skiing in Montana, staying true to their family tradition every Christmas. The singer hopes to feel her late husband's presence with them in the trip. "He put some something magical into that snow, into those mountains, and every time we go down, I go down with him," she said. "My children go down thinking about him. Every time I take the lift to go up, I feel closer to him."
