In the most surprising esports news all year, legendary singer-songwriter and composer Dato’ M Nasir was recently announced as a member of esports group RSG Malaysia.

The artist, famous for songs like Keroncong Untuk Ana, Sentuhan Listrikmu and Bagaikan Sakti with Siti Nurhaliza was unveiled on RSG Malaysia’s official Facebook page as a ‘sifu’ to their current roster of stars including Izanami, Hawk and Kuja.

It’s reported that M. Nasir will be RSG’s Mobile Legends Bang Bang team in the Flex role and his official name will be ‘Sifu’.

This is real, guys! RSG Malaysia country director Johnny Tan confirmed that the announcement it’s not at all a practical joke or prank.

“He is joining the team as one of the players and he’ll also take on the role as a mentor to the team. Due to his age and experience, he’ll also be able to advise the team on how to be more calm and less ‘kan cheong’ (nervous),” Tan said, talking to LifestyleTech.

Dato’ M. Nasir isn’t the first entertainer to delve into the esports world. International acts such as P. Diddy, JLO, The Weeknd and Will Smith have all dipped their feet in their own roles over the past few years.
