While the rest of us patiently wait for our turn, local drama producer Datuk A. Aida has received her first dose, making her the first celebrity to be vaccinated in the country.
Are celebrities considered frontliners too, now?
According to the New Straits Times, the producer received the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine on 15 April.Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba said Aida's name was included in the line listing forwarded by The Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) to the ministry, along with the agency's personnel.
"APM is also in Phase 1, which dedicated to the frontliners,” Adham told the English daily when contacted.
"The name was given by APM and we had confirmed it with the line list.”
The producer received her vaccination at the Dewan Sri Seroja in Putrajaya through her membership in APM, where she holds the rank of Associate Colonel.
This has raised eyebrows among netizens who questioned whether she was considered as a frontliner.
The 51-year-old told Harian Metro that she’s fine and had nothing to fear when she found out her name was listed.
“Fear is subjective and different for every person.”
“Some even think they’re going to die after getting vaccinated but you could say death is certain and can happen anytime,” she said.
