Well, it seems that the rum-loving captain will soon take over the silver screens once again as Disney is reportedly working on the sixth installment of the film.
And the House of Mouse is rumoured to be eying a potential female lead star – Karen Gillan.

According to WeGotThisCovered, the ‘Jumanji’ star is being considered as the lead to headline the reboot.
Gillan will play a pirate named Red, who’ll embark on adventures to explore unchartered territories.
No word if a male lead will star opposite the ‘Avengers’ star in the event she’s confirmed for the role, or if Johnny Depp will have a role in the new movie.
The high tide seas, pirate ships (and fans!) have missed watching Depp playing the titular character but we can only keep dreaming on, as his return to the franchise is bleak.
Disney has dropped Depp from the franchise amidst the controversies and court proceedings surrounding him and his ex-wife Amber Heard.
Depp allegedly blamed Heard’s accusations for his termination from ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’.
Karen Gillan’s track record as an actress and at the box office has been great so far, and we think she’s make a mean, lean, pirate machine for the reboot.
