Here's why you shouldn't trust everything you read on the Internet.

The much-anticipated film Beauty and the Beast has not been banned in Malaysia.

A Disney Malaysia representative told Rojak Daily that news reports claiming that the movie studio has pulled the plug on the film are absolutely false.

The representative also acknowledged that Disney is aware of the rumours, and they would like to reassure Beauty and the Beast fans in Malaysia that the studio will definitely not cancel the film's release.

However, the representative did not mention when the movie will air in the cinemas as they are still currently reviewing the new release date.

Earlier on Tuesday, news agency Associated Press reported that The Walt Disney Co (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd has decided to shelve the film despite getting the approval from the Malaysian Censorship Board (LPF) to screen it on Monday evening.

The article caused quite a stir online, with fans expressing shock and anger over the sudden cancellation of the film.
