‘Dumbo’ is Getting a Live-Action Remake and Will Smith Will Possibly Star in the Movie

Two years ago, Entertainment Weekly confirmed that Disney’s Dumbo will get a live-action remake helmed by one of Hollywood’s mysterious, dark directors, Tim Burton. Disney fans rejoiced to the news and anticipated the remake of one of Disney’s most iconic classics. Fast forward to 2017, a handful of live-action remake movies by Disney have been released such as Cinderella, Maleficent and The Jungle Book, but Dumbo is still nowhere to be seen.
Well, we’ve got great news for you because we now have an idea of who could star in the remake! Will Smith is currently in talks to star in the 1941 animated movie, according to Entertainment Weekly. Once there is confirmation on his involvement, he would take on a role as a father whose children befriend Dumbo after seeing him at the circus. No news on who will voice the loveable flying elephant, though.

Smith’s involvement in Dumbo may potentially have a significant effect on his next movie, Bad Boys for Life, which he co-stars along Martin Lawrence. The start date for the third installment of Bad Boys may have to be pushed back or shelved completely in the event the Suicide Squad star joins Dumbo, reports Variety.
Besides Will Smith, Tom Hanks is also allegedly considered for a role in the movie. To be honest, we imagined Smith taking the role of Dumbo’s best friend, Timothy Q. Mouse, but perhaps producers have someone better in mind for the role. Fingers crossed that Will Smith will agree to be in the movie!

Dumbo is slated to be released in theatres in January 12, 2018.
