The Malaysian-born star has been back in the spotlight lately with her latest flick Everything Everywhere All at Once proving to be a surprising juggernaut at the box office, especially for an indie film.

She has been somewhat on a roll since Crazy Rich Asians smashed box office records back in 2018, starring in multiple movies including Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. This year, she is even set to appear in the sequel of the second highest-grossing film of all time which is Avatar: The Way of the Water as Dr. Karina Mogue.

The 59-year-old recently attended the Met Gala recently, showing off her timeless beauty that has not dimmed since her days as a Bond girl, stunning in a flowing green Prabal Gurung number.

It is safe to say no other Malaysian actor amassed the same number of achievements in Hollywood. In our humble opinion, us Malaysians do not give her nearly enough credit. So, in her honour, here are some little-known facts about Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh!

She hails from Ipoh, Perak

Our country has proudly produced many beauty queens over the years but this queen hails from the mining town of Ipoh. The 1983 Miss Malaysia winner studied at Main Convent Ipoh before going on to study at a boarding school in the United Kingdom.

She wanted to be a ballet dancer, not an actress

Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh was listed on the Times 100 Most Influential People 2022 list, but she did not start out wanting to be an actress! She attended the Royal Academy of Dance in London before suffering a spinal injury that forced her to give up on her dream.

She does a lot of her crazy stunts

Back in 1992, she famously starred opposite Jackie Chan in Police Story 3: Supercop, with a scene including a scene on top of a moving train. Her stunts even inspired Jackie Chan to up his game, not wanting to be outdone by a woman!

She Frequently Engages in Charity Work

She is not only gorgeous, incredibly talented but she has a good heart too! Talk about an all-rounder. The Hollywood star takes time out of her busy schedule to give back to the community by frequently engaging in charitable acts. Last December when flash floods hit Taman Sri Muda, Shah Alam, she personally got her hands dirty by helping in the post-flood relief efforts.

We are so proud of her. Go, Tan Sri!
