The tragic death of unarmed African-American man George Floyd, under a policeman's knee while a few other officers watched, in the United States sparked nationwide protests against the treatment of people of colour in the country.

The incident also shoved his daughter into the limelight.

Six-year-old Gianna Floyd not only lost her father, but she also had to deal with the media and people who've been showing interest in her life for various reasons.

But it's not all bad.

A shareholder of one of the biggest companies in the world

Thank You @barbrastreisand for my package, I am now a Disney Stockholder thanks to you ???

On 14 June, Gianna shared a post on her Instagram saying that she is now a Disney shareholder, thanks to celebrity Barbra Streisand.

The post doesn't exactly say how big a share she holds or what it means, but according to a CNBC report earlier this year, if a person had bought shares for USD1,000 (RM4,278) a decade ago, they can earn a profit of up to 370 per cent (i.e. USD 4,600 [RM19,678]) if they sell it now.

On top of that, Gianna also received copies of Streisand's albums, 'My Name is Barbra (1965)' and 'Color Me Barbra (1966)'.

She thanked the singer on her newly established Instagram account, which already has 47,000 followers.

Others have offered assistance too

Kanye West
Streisand is not the only person to have provided assistance to Gianna and her family.

A GoFundMe page has already collected USD 2.1 million (about RM8.98 million) for her, and Texas Southern University had offered her a full scholarship if she chooses to study there.

Rapper Kanye West has also set up a savings plan for Gianna to fully cover her college fees.

West also donated USD2 million (about RM8.55 million) to help the families of Floyd, as well as two other African-Americans who were killed by the police.
