What seemed like a lovely mother and son bonding time at a lake turned out to be a nightmare when the mother goes missing during the trip.

According to Variety, former ‘Glee’ star Naya Rivera went missing after a swimming accident at Lake Piru in Ventura County, California, based on reports from the Ventura County sheriff’s department.

Feared that she might've drowned

The sheriff’s department has reportedly dispatched a team to search for Rivera as they feared that she might have drowned.

The 33-year-old actress’ four-year-old son, meanwhile, was found floating alone on a rented boat at the river.

It was said that Rivera had rented the boat at 1pm on Wednesday (8 July), before another boater found her child on the boat all alone about three hours later.

Naya and her son, Josey.
Her son, Josey, is reportedly unharmed, and told police investigators that he and his mother were swimming, but she never returned to the boat.

On the same day – perhaps hours prior to the harrowing incident - Naya posted a photo with her son on her Instagram profile with the caption: “Just the two of us.”

Josey is Naya’s son with her former husband, Ryan Dorsey, whom she divorced from in 2018.

The actress gained popularity through her role as Santana Lopez on the hit TV show ‘Glee’. She also starred in ‘Devious Maids’.

Let's hope the authorities find her soon.
