Korean A-listers Gong Yoo and Seo Hyun Jin will be making a small screen comeback as a couple! Netflix has announced that the powerful duo will be headlining an upcoming drama, ‘The Trunk’. Last month, the chilling thriller ‘Lies in My Garden’ debuted and this time it’s about a…trunk in a lake?

Based on the novel of the same name, the story revolves around a whirlwind of unforeseen events and secrets that follow after a mystifying trunk is found in the depths of a lake. In the drama, matchmaking organisation NM helps singles to set up contract-based marriages with their desired spouse.

Music producer Jeong-won (played by Gong Yoo) ironically meets his ‘second wife’ In-ji (Seo Hyun Jin) through a contract-based marriage service arranged by his ex-wife. However, they find themselves thrown into a whirlwind of secrets and events involving the matchmaking service when the trunk is unearthed.

This will mark Gong Yoo’s first drama since Netflix series Silent Sea in 2021 and Seo Hyun Jin’s first since legal drama ‘Why Her’ in mid-2022. The two hail from the same agency Management SOOP, and this will mark their first project together.

Heartthrob Gong Yoo is one of Korea’s top actors with projects such as ‘Train to Busan’ and ‘Guardian: The Lonely and Great God’ under his belt. Meanwhile, Seo Hyun Jin has displayed her acting prowess with top dramas such as ‘Another Miss Oh’ and ‘Dr. Romantic.’

The stellar cast is joined by a solid production team as ‘The Trunk’ will be helmed by director Kim Gyu Tae who is behind hit dramas such as ‘Our Blues’, ‘Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo’, and ‘It’s Alright, This Is Love’. The script has been penned by Park Eun Young of ‘Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth’.

The drama’s broadcast schedule has yet to be decided but we can’t wait to watch the drama already because it promises to be a hit! Their combined acting skills and electrifying chemistry will definitely shake up our screens *swoons*.
