While Sanrio may be known for many kawaii characters such as Hello Kitty and Cinnamoroll, a truly relatable character we love is Gudetama ––– the world’s most unmotivated egg.

This anthropomorphised egg yolk is always depicted to be in a ‘meh’ mood with taglines like ‘allergic to mornings’ and ‘gude things take time’.

Come 13 December, the adorable egg will come to life as ‘Gudetama: An Eggcellent Adventure’ will be premiering as part of a ten-episode live-action and CGI series on Netflix.

Watch the trailers here:

The character looks so believably wibbly wobbly and slimy that we can’t believe it's not real. Although Gudetama just wants to be lazy, together with the overbearing chick Shakipiyo, they leave the refrigerator and head out into the world.

The silly duo is on an adventure to find their mother and meet various eggs along the way.

Shunsuke Takeuchi has taken on the challenging task of being the voice behind protagonist Gudetama and 24 other eggs that appear in various forms such as an egg sandwich and a pudding. He has also previously lent his voice talents to shows such as ‘Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War’. We can’t believe his voice is not digitally altered!

Meanwhile, Seiran Fukushima, a promising child actress, will be performing as the voice of Shakipiyo.

Each episode has an approximate run time of ten minutes. As egg lovers, we’re totally EGGS-CITED and this series looks like a promising hit.

Can Gudetama, who doesn’t want to move or work, actually reach its mother before it turns rotten? *gasp* Watch the series to find out.
