We totally didn't see this coming.

For as long as we're alive (at least this generation), the only Charlie's Angels we knew were Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore and Lucy Liu in the original 2000 film and 2003 sequel.

Ever since the news broke about a new Charlie's Angels reboot in the works, we couldn't imagine anyone else who could play the iconic female characters better than the trio.

The best of the best.
But like it or not, Charlie has found his new Angels.

Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott and Ella Balinska will be joining the cast of the new generation.

Now, what's even more surprising is the one sitting in the director's chair.

Elizabeth Banks, popular for her roles in Pitch Perfect and The Hunger Games, will not only be directing the franchise reboot, she will practically be multitasking throughout this project, including co-writing the script, and of course, playing the titular role as Charlie Townsend.

What's interesting about the new generation of Angels is each actress' Hollywood resume -- we have Stewart whom we're all familiar with for his role in Twilight, the up and coming Scott from the 2017 Power Rangers remake and the live action Aladdin, as well as British newcomer Balinska, who has appeared in several TV shows and short films.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the new movie will be a globe-trotting adventure centering on the next generation of Angels because the detective agency is now a global organisation with teams around the world.

How exciting!

Charlie's Angels will hit theatres worldwide on 27 September 2019. Until then, let's rewatch the old Charlie's Angels movies, shall we?

What do you think of the new Angels? Do you agree with the casting choice?
