You won’t have to worry about finding a Christmas-themed flick to enjoy with your family and friends with all the options available across various streaming services. You may already be familiar with Christmas classics like ‘Elf’, ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas’, and ‘The Polar Express’ which deserve special mentions and don’t seem to lose their charm over the years.

However, if you’re looking for newer titles to add to your playlist to put you in the holiday spirit, grab a cup of hot cocoa, snuggle under the blankets with your loved ones, and hit the ‘play’ button on these movies and series:

While Will Ferrell already made himself a Christmas movie icon with ‘Elf’, in this flick he puts a hilarious spin on Charles Dickens's classic ‘A Christmas Carol’ with his roles as a producer and the ‘Ghost of Christmas Present’. Add Ryan Reynolds as the media consultant Clint Briggs who tries to profit off Christmas and many musical numbers to the mix, and what you get is over two hours of infectious holiday spirit and laughs. The movie also stars Octavia Spencer.

Best in Snow

While this isn’t strictly a movie, teams around the world have been transported to a magical snowy village to show off their brrr-illiant snow-carving skills in this holiday special. Scrooge: A Christmas Carol

The synopsis reads: ‘With his very soul on the line, Scrooge has but one Christmas Eve left to face his past and build a better future’. While you may think that the Charles Dickens novel has been adapted to death, it's still worth watching an animated adaptation that can be enjoyed by the entire family after you’ve finished decking the halls and hanging up your mistletoe. You also may recognise the voice of the dashing Luke Evans –– who portrayed Gaston in Disney's 2017 live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast –– as the grouchy Ebenezer Scrooge.

Airs 2 December on Netflix.

Falling for Christmas

If like us you grew up watching Lindsay Lohan in ‘The Parent Trap’, ‘Mean Girls’, and ‘Freaky Friday’, you’ll want to catch the actresses’ return after nearly a decade. The premise feels like a Hallmark movie, but who doesn’t love a good rom-com every once in a while? Sierra Belmont is a spoiled heiress who is diagnosed with amnesia after getting into a skiing accident. She then finds herself being looked after by a good-looking lodge owner (Glee’s Chord Overstreet) and his daughter.

Fun fact: this show also stars British actor George Young, whose father is Malaysian.

The Boss Baby Christmas Bonus

Everyone’s favourite atypical baby is back just in time to give you some festive cheer ––– although he doesn’t really want anything to do with Christmas. Although it’s Boss Baby’s first time celebrating Christmas, he refuses to join in on all the celebrations that his big brother Tim introduces him to. Watch what happens when he’s accidentally mistaken for an elf and gets sent to the North Pole instead. This 44-minute show also features guest star George Lopez as Santa.

The show will be coming to Netflix on 6 December.

Merry Christmas, everyone, and happy streaming!
