‘Hantu Kak Limah’ Is Now Officially The Highest Grossing Malaysian Film
If you’re a fan of local films and Mamat Khalid, you would know by now that Hantu Kak Limah is currently haunting cinemas nationwide.
The movie is the third installation from the movie series Hantu Kak Limah Balik Rumah (2010) and Husin, Mon dan Jin Pakai Toncit (2013).
The movie revolves around Kak Limah, who was found dead nearby her crop but some villagers aren’t aware of her passing and have claimed to have recently seen her.
The movie received rave reviews from critics and fans, saying it is the best Hantu Kak Limah movie to date and it’s so hilarious that you’ll leave the cinema with a stomach ache due to excessive laughing.
Well, it’s no surprise that the movie performed very well. So well, in fact, it managed to claim the highest ever opening in Malaysia with RM1.8 million on the first day alone.
And now, after 11 days since the movie premiered, Hantu Kak Limah literally scared the competitors away and became the highest grossing movie of all time in Malaysia with a whopping RM20.5 million in ticket sales collection!
The record was previously held by Abang Long Fadil 2 with RM19.04 million after 28 days. Wow, imagine how much collection Hantu Kak Limah might possibly make after they reach the 28th day mark.
