Harry Styles In Talks To Play Prince Eric In Live Action Of ‘The Little Mermaid’

Since almost everything in Disney’s library is getting the live-action treatment nowadays, the latest movie to join the bandwagon is another beloved animated classic, ‘The Little Mermaid’.

Disney may have found their modern-day Ariel by casting Halle Bailey, which received mixed reactions from fans but now many are left wondering who will be casted opposite her as Prince Eric?

There’s no clear indication yet as to who will star opposite Bailey, but we can all look to one direction for now and hope that this news comes true.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Harry Styles is in “early negotiations” to take on the role of Prince Eric.

In case you need a recap, Ariel made a deal with Ursula to trade her voice for a pair of legs in order to get a chance to fall in love with Eric after saving him from drowning.

Besides Styles, Melissa McCarthy, Jacob Tremblay, and Awkwafina are also in talks to join the live-action remake of the red-haired mermaid.

Although Prince Eric didn’t sing in the original animated film, casting Styles would probably mean that Prince Eric would potentially sing in the live-action movie especially given the fact that the Broadway musical version of ‘The Little Mermaid’ featured Prince Eric singing several songs.
