In a month or so, ‘Avengers: Endgame’ will run its course. And the next Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movie that fans can look forward to is ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’. You can read all upcoming MCU movies here.
‘Far From Home’ is the the sequel to ‘Homecoming’ and will premiere this July.
If you have watched ‘Endgame’, we know you’re probably wondering how the movie will affect the timeline for the ‘Spider-Man’ sequel and Peter Parker as a whole.
Well, ‘Avengers: Endgame’ directors Joe and Anthony Russo have decided to address some of your questions. So, are you ready guys?
Of course, this post contains spoilers to 'Avengers: Endgame', so if you haven't watched it, it's time to look away now.
According to Entertainment Weekly, ‘Far From Home’ will take place five years after Thanos’ deadly snap – which means they have returned thanks to Iron Man’s snap.
And by the looks of the new trailer, it seems that Peter was severely affected by Tony's demise and like us, he's missing his mentor a lot.
The Russo Brothers also revealed that Peter’s best friend, Ned Leeds (played by Jacob Batalon), was affected by The Decimation, which explains why he didn’t age at all in ‘Endgame’.
“So… Ned disappeared as well. That’s the two of them seeing each other for the first time after having disappeared.”
Best on-screen BFF ever?
Well, in that case M.J. (Zendaya), Betty Brant (Angourie Rice), and Flash Thompson (Tony Revolori) all suffered from the snap too, since they didn't look like they aged a day in the trailer.
“Just because half the population got wiped out, that doesn’t mean that everyone that they went to high school with didn’t disappear,” Joe said.
“There could be kids who are now much older than them and no longer in high school.”
Yes, Cobie Smulders will also appear in 'Far From Home' too.
Here's another question that needs answering: if 'Far From Home' takes place five years after The Decimation, why did Nick Fury and Peter Parker act like they're meeting for the first time in the trailer when both of them were clearly at Tony Stark's funeral?
Some fans pointed out that it could be one of Marvel's misdirections, as they are pretty well-known for inserting fake footages in trailers. So, it might just be another marketing plot.
Well, the only way to find out is to wait. ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ premieres on 4 July 2019 in cinemas.
