Highly Anticipated Romance K-drama Starring Suzy & Yang Se Jong Releases Trailer & Poster
One of South Korea’s most popular singers and actresses Suzy hasn’t starred in many acting projects since 2020’s Start-Up starring Nam Joo Hyuk, only appearing in the 2022 web series Anna. This is one of the reasons why fans of the Nation’s First Love are highly anticipating the upcoming Netflix K-drama, also starring Yang Se Jong (Still 17).
Doona! is based on the highly popular manhwa The Girl Downstairs written by Min Song A and will be crafted by Lee Jung Hyo, the director of Crash Landing on You. The tale traces the thread of fate between college student, Lee Won-jun (Yang Se Jong), and enigmatic ex-K-pop idol Lee Doona (Suzy), whose lives are intertwined with each other in a shared living space. Set to premiere on 20 October, the series will have nine episodes and was produced by Studio Dragon.
A main vocalist of a popular idol group who suddenly retired, Doona stays in a shared house near the university. Her character exudes mysterious vibes and even smokes. Won Jun is a pure college student who provides a place for Doona to rest. This writer personally read the webtoon and it’s no ordinary romance as Doona keeps him guessing with her every move and as her past unravels. It also shined a light on the toxic nature of idol culture and stardom.

Sparks fly as the two live under one roof, and Doona plays a push-and-pull game with him as Won Jun tries to resist her charms. He ends up finding himself without realising what he is getting into. Doona sports flowing long black locks and bangs which captivates him.
In the trailer, Doona’s voice says, “I’m telling you this just in case, but don’t fall for me either” as the two lean in for a kiss. Watch it here:
