After 16 years since the last episode of ‘Lizzie McGuire’ aired, fans were overjoyed for the return of their favourite TV girl with her mini animated self via the upcoming reboot for Disney+.

However, along the way was a lot of bumpy roads for the show and it seems that that dream of watching the remake is now best left in dreamland.

The show’s star, Hilary Duff has confirmed via her Instagram that the reboot would not be happening.

“I’ve been so honored to have the character of Lizzie in my life,” Duff wrote.

“I know the efforts and conversations have been everywhere tyring to make a reboot work but, sadly and despite everyone’s best efforts, it isn’t going to happen.”

Earlier this year Disney put a pause on the reboot after the show’s showrunner, Terry Minsky left due to creative differences with the mouse house.

Duff and Minsky had plans for a matured version of Lizzie’s story in 2020 but Disney wanted it to appeal more to kids and families just like the original series.

The first two episodes for the reboot had been recorded which was supposedly to revolve around Lizzie who is now in her 30s, living in New York working as an assistant to a fancy New York City decorator.

Photos of the shoot surfaced which sent fans hearts’ aflutter but sadly, our dreams have just come to an end.

Well, keep your finders crossed because who knows someday somehow, ‘Lizzie McGuire’ will make a return.
