Earlier this year, fans were heartbroken when the highly anticipated ‘Lizzie McGuire’ reboot came to an abrupt stop after its creator, Terri Minski, left the show.

Two episodes have been filmed prior to her resignation, which was reported due to some creative issues between Minski and Disney.

‘Lizzie McGuire’ star Hilary Duff has spoken about the show’s creative direction a few times since then, and it seems that she’s given a new glimmer of hope on what’s happening to the reboot.

According to E!, Duff says that she has been in contact with the Mouse House a few times a week to discuss the show’s direction.


"We are very much still in conversation with them a couple of times a week, which is really nice," she says.

"We started shooting, and then obviously that got on hold for a couple of different reasons not involving the pandemic," Duff continues.

"But you know what, I have high hopes that we are going to make it work."

If you’re wondering what caused all the fuss between Disney and the show’s creator, apparently it’s due to the adult themes in the reboot.


The Hollywood Reporter reported that the first episode of the reboot addressed sex and cheating as a key plot which probably didn’t sit well with Disney execs as they wanted to keep it family-friendly.

The reboot version of ‘Lizzie McGuire’, which was set to premiere on Disney+, would see her as an assistant to an interior decorator in New York, dating a guy who owns a fancy restaurant, and about to celebrate her 30th birthday with what appears to be a perfect life.

We hope that Disney and the cast would come to a conclusion on their direction soon as fans have been waiting too long for this reboot.
