Guys, answer this question: on the top of your head, who do you think is the most streamed local artist on Spotify?

If you answer Siti Nurhaliza, we won't blame you, because she is after all Malaysia's most popular singer.

However, this year's most streamed artiste is not the 40-year-old songstress.

Malaysia's favourite

The boys are on top of the list.
According to Spotify's annual ranking, local hip hop group K-Clique has dethroned Siti to became Malaysia’s most streamed local artiste of 2019.

The nation’s favourite songstress has previously held the top spot for two consecutive years.

Not just that, Siti didn't even manage to hold the second spot, as Faizal Tahir overtook her in the list. Siti finished third in the list.

So, who is the most streamed artiste in general in 2019?

The ARMYs have done their job.
It's none other than Korean boyband BTS! Their "Boy With Luv" track, featuring US singer Halsey, is the most streamed K-Pop track globally.

K-Pop girl group BlackPink is also one of the most streamed groups in the country this year.

That shouldn't come as a surprise, right?

'Thank you, next!'
Meanwhile, singer Ariana Grande is Malaysia’s second most streamed artiste and her album 'Thank U, Next' became the third most streamed album both globally and locally.

Her song "7 Rings" is Malaysia’s fifth most streamed track.

Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello’s hit song, "Señorita", received over 1 billion streams on Spotify this year, making it the most streamed track globally and in Malaysia too.

The title for the most streamed artiste of the decade goes to Drake, with more than 28 billion streams to his name, while Ed Sheeran’s "Shape Of You" is the most streamed track of the decade with more than 2.3 billion streams.

That says a lot about what Malaysians love to listen to. So, how many of these artistes popped up on your most played list?
